Other option would be train from Waverley Station to the new Edinburgh Gateway Station and then link to the tram to the airport.. Alternatively, you could drive to the Gyle Shopping Centre, which is adjacent to the Edinburgh Gateway Station (via Pedestrian walkway) and pick up your sister there and that way avoid the Tram fare to the Airport.
